MEXICO CITY – Boris gained hurricane strength again early Wednesday as it continued to churn far out in the Pacific.
Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center said a tropical depression closer to Mexico's coast was nearing tropical storm strength.
Hurricane Boris had maximum sustained winds near 75 mph. But it was expected to weaken and drop below hurricane strength later in the day. The eye of the hurricane was located about 1,185 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.
Boris also briefly became a hurricane Tuesday, before its winds fell to about 70 mph.
Closer to shore, the tropical depression had maximum sustained winds near 35 mph and was expected to strengthen. It was located about 265 miles southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico.
