LOS ANGELES – Police have worked through the night looking for the two suspected gang members who gunned down an 8-year-old girl in a South Los Angeles apartment courtyard.
Los Angeles police Lt. Lee Sands tells KTLA-TV that detectives are interviewing people for the case, but they have no suspects in custody.
The girl was shot near East 76th and South San Pedro streets at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say children were playing in the courtyard of their apartment building when two males in their late teens approached and opened fire at a nearby group of people.
The girl was hit in the chest, an unintended target of a gang-related shooting. She was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
